The In's and Out's of selling food on Ebay: Food Edition

This may sound a bit strange right off the bat, but it can be done, and has been done many times before. Prior to listing your food items, be sure to go to Ebay's Food and Healthcare Policy. This page lists all of the general rules that you should follow, and also provides a more in depth list of specific foods that you are prohibited from listing.

There are many federal and state laws and regulations that come into play when listing highly regulate items such as food items. The listed items must:

  • Have a visible and clear expiration date that the item is shipped prior to.
  • Not be altered or changed in any way
  • Be stored safely before you ship them
If your listing doesn't follow the basic guidelines, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including restrictions of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.

Remember: Follow all of the guidelines set to you by Ebay, and your selling experience should be smooth sailing. Happy listing!
